The Problem

Growing up playing football in North London, the park was everything. No shin pads, no fuss. Just football. That freedom - the way you move when nothing is getting in your way - is something every footballer chases when they make the transition to competitive football.

But grassroots pitches in England aren't the park. The grounds are tough, the studs come out, and suddenly you're wearing shin pads that move around, stick out, and remind you they're there every time you go to control the ball.

It's a problem nearly every player has. Pads that slide down the leg mid-match. Tape that loses its grip. Compression sleeves that bunch. Pads that leave pressure marks after a single training session. None of these things stop you playing - but they all chip away at the quality of your game in a way most players just accept as part of football.

Every Other Solution Falls Short

There are two ways the market has tried to solve this. Tiny shin pads - the ones barely bigger than a credit card - get the idea right. You barely feel them. The problem is they don't actually protect you. Strip a shin pad down enough to be invisible and you've essentially built jewellery.

Then there are mouldable shin pads. The concept is brilliant: heat them, mould them to your shin, and they fit like nothing else. But the options that existed just weren't good enough. The fit was there in theory. The execution - the look, the feel, the protection - wasn't. Most were stiff slabs of plastic with no design thought, sold to players who deserved better.

So Shinplex was built from scratch to get it right.

What Shinplex™ Is

Developed in London, Shinplex™ launched in 2021 with one goal: a mouldable shin pad that you don't even feel you're wearing - and that actually protects you.

Not tiny. Not bulky. Custom-fit to your shin through a simple three-step hot water moulding process, Shinplex™ distributes impact force evenly across the surface of the pad, giving you real protection through design rather than just padding.

The material itself is thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) - the same family of materials used in high-performance protective equipment across multiple sports. It softens at 90°C (achievable with hot tap water or a kettle), allowing the pad to mould to the exact contour of your shin in under 90 seconds, then sets firm as it cools. The result is a pad that stays in place during play without tape, straps, or compression sleeves, and can be remoulded up to twice if the fit needs adjusting.

Every Shinplex pad ships from London. The product is designed in the UK and made to standards compatible with FA-approved shin pad regulations.
